Working Mom: Working Mom raised by a Single Mom
Welcome to MY Blog, and this is all about my confessions as a Working Mom that was raised by a single Mom.
WORKING MOM
A lot of mothers right now can be seen inside buildings, groceries, offices, banks, malls and even on the streets under the heat of the sun. Mothers are there not to do grocery shopping, deposit or withraw money from banks, shopping inside the malls but mothers are there to work as Cashiers, maintenance crew, service crew, bankers, street vendors, sales lady and even security guards! See? These mothers are amazing, we definitely know the main reason why these mothers are out there working, and that is because they want to earn for a living.
WORKING MOM: GUILT TRIP
As a Mom myself, I also juggle between being a career woman, a mom, a wife and a daughter. I started working few months after I gave birth to my eldest in 2010 and I have been working since then. It's now 2022, and the only time I take a long vacation is when I am on Maternity Leave which is two - three months; that was when I gave birth to my 2nd and third son. There were times when I felt like I am not being a good mother to my kids, I had this guilt, whenever I don't get to cook meals for my kids, help them prep for school, help them with their homework, attend PTA meetings or watch them whenever they join a program at school -- all because I am always out for work, and when I get home, I rest for a bit then sleep. The same cycle happens, I wake up, prepare for work, leave for work for few hours, come home to rest and sleep. This cycle lasted for almost 12 years, I kept the feeling that I am a bad mom. So, if you would ask me, am I tired working for that long with very few times of going on a break? Being tired is definitely an understatement, it felt like I am all alone in this world with all these things happening about my motherhood and my dream of having a successful career as woman.
WORKING MOM: SILVER LINING
I was wondering where am I getting all the strength and courage to continue, to move forward and as to why was I able to do overcome my daily frustrations. I looked back from the years, then I saw my children's smiling faces whenever they have a comfortable bed, nice and warm food to eat, play with their favorite toys, my husband's warm welcome whenever I come home from work. But wait, that's just not it. I looked back further, and there I see myself as a child with a strong single mother having the same situation as I am and the only difference is-- there is no husband helping her raise her child.
I remembered, I am a Working Mom raised by A Single Mom! My mom was my best role-model in life. She is the main reason why I grew up being a strong and independent person that I am today. A strong mom and wife. A daughter raised by a Strong Single MOM!
So if you are a career woman feeling all alone, stressed, frustrated and tired. Look back to where you started and why you wanted to work at all. And look back on why you are who you are. What made you who you are today. If you are thinking of how it is like to be a child having a working MOM, I would say I am a living proof of it's effect.
